Ian Skellern is an Australian who now calls a small village outside Geneva in Switzerland home. For more than two decades he has sharing his passion for watches and watchmakers, especially the smaller brands and independents, in both magazines and online. Ian is the co-founder — with Elizabeth Doerr — and technical editor of Quill & Pad, a blog devoted to high end watchmaking and luxury.
ThePuristS (now PuristS Pro) was Ian's first digital horological home. Posting articles and photos online at ThePuristS led to publishing in magazines such as iW (International Watch), where he was the magazine's Swiss correspondent for many years. Ian has written for The Robb Report (USA), Wynn Magazine (USA), Revolution, Vanity Fair (UK) and QP (UK). In 2010 Ian worked with Peter Speake-Marin to write a book called The Hands of Time to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the A.H.C.I..
Ian has a particular affinity for, and knowledge of, high end watches by independent watchmakers and smaller boutique brands. Living in Switzerland allows Ian the luxury of delving deep into complicated watches and the people behind them.
