Witness Marks

Discussing the controversial life of John B. McLemore over translating 'Witness marks' live, an elusive and largely forgotten phenomenal practice. We will discover surprising details of the decades long journey of a rare antique clock.

A live display of a clockmaker deciphering ‘witness marks’ on a clock (with a magnified, projected screen), walking through its history and translating its ‘wounds’ throughout time in relation to the clock maker and subsequent repairs done by either him/her or others. A clock expert will accompany the clockmaker’s verbal journey, providing his own unique insight in the ancient practice of tracking witness marks and their legendary clockmakers. Each clockmaker/repairman’s hands have a signature when working on antique clocks. The life of John B. McLemore will also be discussed at the hands of this group of carefully selected panel participants.
