Telling someone how to do their job is always a delicate process- especially when that someone created the product or service you are trying to sell to your people. The intricate dance between telling HQ to follow your lead on your turf without hurting any feelings vs. telling your distributor they're maiming your product.

Brands, their incessant Guidelines and how they may be shooting themselves in the foot more often than not. When should a brand sit back and let the local distributor/retailer/market sell to their own people? When is it imperative they don’t? This discussion entails why, in the face of globalization and improvements in technology, brands need to be more imaginative in their guidelines and trust the locals. But then again, how does a hunter tell the lioness how to hunt?
